Smile welcomes four new trustees

Cheshire-based perinatal mental health charity, Smile Group, is delighted to welcome four new Trustees to its Board.

Victoria Markham-Bean, Neil McPherson, Dan Rowe and Lee Shore have all become Trustees of Smile, bringing their own specific skills and experience to the team.

Victoria is an HR Advisor who benefitted from Smile’s support services when she became a mum. She brings a wealth of HR experience and is keen to support the charity’s fundraising efforts. Based in Sandbach, Victoria looks forward to bringing lots of enthusiasm and people skills to the role, as well as a keen eye on maintaining forward momentum on programmes of work.

Neil McPherson joins with a career background in finance, as a qualified accountant who thrives on helping businesses to improve and grow.  Neil has a personal connection as his wife experienced perinatal mental health challenges with both of their children and it was difficult to witness from the perspective of a dad. He is keen to see services available for the whole family and to support Smile as they develop ways of specifically supporting dads. Neil also has Trustee experience from active involvement in Sandbach Round Table Charitable Trust for more than 10 years.

Dan Rowe also joins the Board having spent the last five years working in mental health and wellbeing. He works with organisations to create long-term, safe environments for their employees. He is also heavily involved with a number of charities that support men’s mental health, including new dads. Dan has followed Smile’s progress over the years and is inspired by the team’s commitment and passion for continuous improvement

Lee Shore joins the team with significant experience in B2B marketing as a business owner of Macclesfield-based lead generation company, Merrehill. Lee was inspired by Ruth’s story when he met her through a business network and has raised funds for Smile both personally and through his business.  Lee is excited about becoming a Trustee and sees synergies between Smile’s growth ambitions and his experience of growing a business organically from scratch.

Commenting on the four new appointments, Chair of Smile Group, Anna Maddox, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome four new Trustees with such a rich blend of expertise, as well as passion for Smile’s work. As a growing charity meeting the needs of hundreds of families each year, we hope to expand and evolve our service to provide tailored support for dads.  With an excellent team, we’re ready to steer the charity through its next chapter.”
