We shall go to the ball!

Smile Group is thrilled to be hosting its debut 10 Year Anniversary Ball on Friday 30th September. Attendees are invited to don their glad rags for a fabulous evening at De Vere Cranage Hall, Holmes Chapel, to mark the momentous milestone.

Having started from humble beginnings on Mother’s Day 2011, Cheshire mums, Ruth Williams and Natalie Nuttall noticed a glaring gap in community support after personal experiences of postnatal depression. The charity now runs weekly support groups in Macclesfield, Congleton, Sandbach and Nantwich as well as 1-1 talk therapy, home visits, monthly family sessions and fortnightly wellbeing walks in Holmes Chapel.

Having supported more than 1,000 families since its conception, being cited in the Royal College of GPs’ Perinatal Mental Health Toolkit and more recently announced as the East Cheshire Chamber of Commerce Charity of the Year, Smile has a growing team of employees and volunteers and is keen to celebrate all it has achieved in the past decade, while also raising valuable funds to invest back into the service.

The Anniversary Ball will include a delicious three-course meal as well as entertainment from local magician, Nick Barnes. There will also be the opportunity to dance the night away with DJ Rich Fleury. Tickets are available for £60 per guest and key partner and group packages are available on request for organisations wishing to partner with Smile for this special event.

Commenting on the ball, cofounder and operations director, Ruth Williams, said: “Unfortunately Covid restrictions meant we weren’t able to celebrate turning 10 in the way we wanted to last year. We’re using poetic license and hosting the event this September as we feel it’s important to bring together our team, families we’ve supported, and businesses and stakeholders who have supported us along the way.

“Smile has been a vital support service across Cheshire East for hundreds of families throughout the last few years in particular. We have provided connection, tailored support, safe spaces and compassion at a time when new and expectant parents have been isolated and vulnerable.”

Community Fundraiser, Louise Tagell, added: “The Anniversary Ball will be a lovely evening to take stock and celebrate Smile’s growth story. We’re encouraging people to secure their tickets and for businesses to show their support by teaming up with us on a variety of partnership packages available.”
